Pedigree will partner with pet shelters across the US to create augmented reality (AR) models of real, adoptable dogs.
The Pedigree Virtual Pet will allow prospective dog adopters to trial owning a specific dog without the pressure of immediately committing to a dog they’re interested in.
The Pedigree Virtual Pet will help adopters learn any dog’s quirks, personality traits, and compatibility in a real and relevant way. Take your virtual dog in the car, on a walk, or bring it around cats to see how it reacts! The opportunities are endless.
How it Works
Prospective dog parents will enter their desired zip code. The app will populate with dogs available for adoption from participating dog shelters within the area.
The virtual dog can be borrowed for up to two weeks. They can be adopted by up to two users at a time.
The real dogs will still be available for anyone to adopt in person, even if the virtual dog is being borrowed. This will incentivize action from virtual borrowers.
